I never write anything here anymore but I just HAD to get this out. Everyone else is asleep, except my grandmother, who didn't seem to care when I told her.

I went to see Ben Folds with the Boston Pops tonight. The concert was amazing. I like the Pops on their own, I like Ben Folds on his own, together it was a wonderful musical explosion. Last time I saw him in concert I had wished there was a full-scale orchestra to back him up on "Narcolepsy." Tonight I got my wish... and then some... a tenor came in to sing, and the orchestra was better than my wildest dreams... plus the lighting! It may have been the greatest musical moment I've ever seen (as opposed to the greatest musical moment I've ever been a part of, which was when my orchestra rocked the Festival of Music in 1994).

But the craziest moment of the night was when a fight broke out in the top balcony. I really thought someone would fall over the edge. A woman was screaming. The orchestra actually stopped. It was like in a western movie: "and then the band stopped playing."

But they got back on track after they kicked the offenders out. Keith Lockhart is a very commanding leader.

And a stone cold fox.
